Can you believe it? It will be 40 years in 2009 since we left the hallowed halls of Mckean High School. I often wonder if I visited the school then could I actually find the rooms I had my classes. Those pods sure do make us unique. And what about the schedule where you were actually given free time to do what you want? I remember one softball game we had in the Spring that never ended. Players came and went for the most part. When someone had a class they left most of the time and a new player would join whose class just ended. On one of the occasions I remember walking by John Shireffs tilting his head back to allow a salamander to slither down his throat. I never found out how much money he won on that bet. He wasn’t the only one that did strange things back then. I remember in tenth grade sitting next to another member of the baseball team who was not a member of our class salute the buses as they were leaving by dropping his pants to display his full moon. Lots of fond memories for me. How about you would you post comments to the blog sharing some of your memories? All you have to do is add a comment.

Don’t remember how much Frog got for that either, but I remember the tail kind of breaking off and wiggling between his lips for enough time to really freak out Holly Huhn.

I can’t remember who actually did the dastardly deed, but it was in Mr.Cleland’s Physics class, where “someone” hotwired one of the stools. I believe John Sheriffs sat down on said stool, and got the shock of his life. As if Mr.Cleland’s Physics class wasn’t hilarious enough… I remember Randy White dragging three would be tacklers about 15 yards down the field before they could get him down. A”minor altercation” ensued. Looking forward to April 25th, 2009…

  3. Although I still can’t believe we did this, I remember a bunch of us “class leader” types climbing several water towers in the area as a form of nighttime entertainment and adventure!?!?!
Sheesh – talk about dangerous! But back then, I’d do almost anything to be part of the “cool” crowd (after suffering through having my Dad as vice-principal in charge of DISCIPLINE all through junior high – EEK!).

  4. I never climbed the water towers, Barb, but I do remember other times of trying to be “cool”. I often remember our times in the music/choir/band room and how upset we would get with Mr. Goodman’s rules. One thing we did not want to realize then was that he definitely taught us to be either dedicated or not be there at all. Work ethics we might be proud of today just MAY have started in that music room…MAYBE??

  5. I mostly wanted to note that even though I could not get to the 40th class reunion, I was thinking of you all that day. My darling husband took me to the Wisconsin Dells (a seven-hour trip each way) to a STYX concert to celebrate my completion of my cancer treatments the week before. I enjoyed our getaway, but quietly wished we could have made the 24-hour trip each way instead – then we could have seen you instead of just imagining you. I hope you ALL had a wonderful time!!!
